Windows 10 hits 300 million devices as it winds down free upgrades
Almost two years after Windows 8 launched in late 2012, Microsoft could only report 200 million installs (or licenses). Today, Microsoft announced that less than a year after shipping Windows 10 to consumers and OEMs, the operating system is installed on 300 million devices. That's 30 million more than what Microsoft reported at its Build Developer Conference in March.
